Family portfolio

Studio:

Arrive in outfit that you want your family portraits done. We start with this first.

(White and denim is very popular. A theme eg. in Linen or Khaki, or even all in Formal. Avoid large prints on fabric)

Bring 2 extra sets of clothes for the kids. Textured fabric works well, simple colours, or really bright fun colours.

Location:

Dress to compliment the theme. If we shoot at the beach, wear simple lines and colours eg. White, denim, blue etc. Nautical themes are also very popular. You could also dress in total contrast to your environment, eg. Formal on the beach.

My view: I only recommend outdoor shoots for kids older than 3. The simple reason is that they struggle to be able to open their eyes in bright light, even if I shoot them under a filter.

It’s really fun with older kids, they can run and jump and just go crazy.

Please do not expect too much of your children. Some children do take more time to relax and feel at home.

If you are all tensed up before a shoot, your child will feel that and could play up against you once the shoot starts. They are really incredibly inelegant human beings.
